Dan Fogelberg was born in Chicago, Illinois in
1948, and moved to Boulder in 1956. He received his BFA and MFA degrees
from the University of Colorado, majoring in watermedia painting. Dan
was the recipient of the Talent and Creativity Scholarship as an
undergraduate and the American Watercolor Society Scholarship as a
graduate student.
For 28 years, Dan taught art at Longmont High School in Longmont,
Colorado, where his students have won numerous state and national art
awards. At least seven of his former students are art teachers
themselves. Dan has written many articles for art education
publications, and has been a presenter at both the Colorado and National
Art Education Association Conferences. In 1993, Dan was honored as the
Colorado Art Educator of the Year.
Since 1973, Dan has continued to exhibit his artwork, with shows ranging
from "Colorado Clay" at the Foothills Art Center to the "Art of Crafts"
at the Denver Art Museum. In 2000, he had a solo show of both paintings
and ceramics at the Mariani Gallery of the University of Northern
Colorado. His work is in numerous private and corporate collections,
including those of the Digital Equipment Corporation, The Denver Post
and Kaiser Permanente.
In 2003, Dan retired from teaching to pursue a full time career in the
studio.
