A not to miss event for anyone remotely close to Gruene and those within a thousand miles of the state of Texas is the Texas Clay Festival. Located in the historic section of Gruene, and hosted on the grounds of Buck Pottery, the Texas Clay Festival features the work of over 60 Texas potters and clay artists. Take the opportunity to buy a piece of their work, from traditional pottery to sculptural clay art. View your favorite clay person’s demos which are scheduled throughout both days under four tents. Demos include raku firing, wheel and hand-building demonstrations. The festival will be held October 24th and 25th, 2009. Admission is free. If you go, say hello to my friends and don’t miss the booths of Randy Brodnax, Roger Allen, Billy Ray and Beverly Mangham and Jim Bob Salazar!
