Crucible, a non profit collaboration of Arts, Industry and Community in Oakland California has issued a call for art that is made from elements of the earth. The following is an excerpt from their website.
Our new Cathedral Building Gallery in downtown Oakland has created a lot of buzz and is getting more visitors each month. We are gearing up for the next exhibit, "eARTh", which is scheduled to open November 6th, in conjunction with Oakland’s First Friday Arts Night.
"eARTh" is a celebration of art created from elements derived from the earth — glass, clay, stone, and plaster. While the exhibit will showcase techniques taught at The Crucible, it is not limited to art done at The Crucible. Submissions for this exhibit are welcomed from staff, faculty, students, and any Bay Area based artists working in a medium applicable to the theme. The exhibit will run six weeks and include an artist reception and media coverage.
Here’s how easy it is to submit:
Send a photo (no larger than 72 dpi, 800 x 600). You must include a description including the dimensions and medium of your work. Art must be submitted for consideration no later than October 23, 2009. Limit 5 entries per artist. Email submissions to these three addresses: suzanne@thecrucible.org This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , jan@thecrucible.org This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. If your art is selected to be included, you must deliver your work to the gallery by Friday, October 30th. Staff from The Crucible will be at the gallery to receive art Wednesday & Thursday, October 28-29, 5-8 PM, and Friday, October 30th 12-6 PM. Please advise when you expect to deliver your art in advance. You will also need to provide us with your bio, a picture of yourself, and a brief statement about your work or how you approach art.
We encourage you to pass this call for art around to your students, colleagues, acquaintances, and other artists who would like to see their art displayed in The Crucible’s Cathedral Building Gallery located in the historical Cathedral Building at 1615 Broadway in downtown Oakland.
