A Juried Art Exhibition Featuring Ceramic Cream & Sugar Sets
Presented by The Cleveland County Arts Council

ELIGIBILITY
This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older working in the medium of clay. Artwork must be original to the artist and completed within the past two (2) years. Artwork previously entered into exhibition at the Cleveland County Arts Council is not eligible.

JUROR
Suze Lindsay is a studio potter living and working in Bakersville, NC (Fork Mountain Pottery). Her ceramic studies include a two-year fellowship at Penland School of Crafts, followed by earning an MFA from Louisiana State University. Lindsay’s stoneware pots subtly reference the figure, as she is known for her altered pottery forms that are decorated and fired in a salt kiln. Suze has taught at numerous art centers and universities including Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Nova Scotia School of Art and Design, and Ohio University. She has been a presenter at many conferences and her awards include Best
of Show in the First Annual Strictly Functional Pottery National, and Emerging Artist at the 2000 National Council on Education for the Ceramic Art conference. Her work is in many permanent collections including the George E Ohr Museum in Biloxi MS, Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum, Taipei, Taiwan, San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, Islip Art Museum, NY, The North Carolina Pottery Center, and Manchester Craftsmans Guild, Pittsburgh, PA.

TO ENTER
There is a $25.00 entry fee for a maximum of three (3) entries. One set equals one (1) entry. Entries must be in JPEG format on a single CD (compact disk) and received by June 4, 2010. Send only images of work that will be available for the exhibition. Make checks payable to the Cleveland County Arts Council.
Each entry should be represented in a digital format (jpeg) including one (1) overall image and one (1) detail image or two (2) detail images. Name each file with your last name and the number of the entry (example:
smith2.jpg, smith2_detail.jpg). Only images sent in jpeg format will be accepted. All digital images must be 300 dpi measuring 6” x 4” of maximum jpeg quality. Each CD must be labeled with the artist’s name, entry number, and title of each image. CDs will not be returned.

ACCEPTED ENTRIES
An artist statement will be requested for all accepted work. Further information will be provided upon
notification of acceptance by August 6, 2010.

SHIPPING
Shipping to and from the gallery is the responsibility of the artist. Work(s) must be shipped in STURDY, REUSABLE
containers. Deadline to receive accepted work at the Arts Center is Sept. 3rd, 2010 and must include a prepaid shipping label or a call tag, check or postage for return shipping. Please include any special packing and/or installation instructions. Any work arriving in packaging not sturdy enough to return/reuse will be returned COD.

CALENDAR
Entry deadline: June 4, 2010
Artist Notification: August 6, 2010
Accepted work due: September 3, 2010
Opening Reception: September 9, 2010
Exhibition closes: October 14, 2010
Pick up or ship work: October 15, 2010

LIABILITY
The Cleveland County Arts Council will exercise due care in handling work submitted for this exhibit. The Arts Council will not be responsible for loss or damage to work while in transit. The Arts Council has security and fine art insurance that will cover the work Sept. 3 – Oct. 15, 2010. All accepted artists will be forwarded a contract agreement. All accepted work must remain on display until the close of the exhibition.

AGREEMENT, PHOTOGRAPH, AND REPRODUCTION RIGHTS
Entry in the Exhibition constitutes agreement to the conditions set forth in this prospectus. The artist grants Cleveland County Arts Council permission to photograph any work accepted for the exhibition for archival purposes or publicity; or for the publications, films or television programs which are produced or sponsored by or with the permission of Cleveland County Arts Council; or to scan artist’s work for the Cleveland County Arts Council web page www.ccartscouncil.org.

PURCHASES
The Cleveland County Arts Council encourages art that is FOR SALE. All art will be available for purchase unless designated “NOT FOR SALE” at the time of the entry. The Arts Council assumes a 30% commission on all sales. Your stated purchase price should include this commission.
