Call for application
Since the late 1980s, the city Neumünster promotes modern ceramic art. Young talents get a chance to conduct the studio and gallery spaces of the unique Stadttöpferei Neumünster | Galerie im Fürsthof. Sponsors are the Dr. Hans Hoch Foundation and since 2007 the Foundation of the Sparkasse Südholstein.
In late summer 2010, now for the first time, four artists from Germany and from abroad are invited to apply to the International Ceramic Symposium Neumünster 2010. The topic “trans|formation” will be the focus of the symposium. Graduates of art schools and experienced ceramic artists are invited to participate in the competition with a idea sketch. The three-week symposium starting 29 August 2010 as a major part of the 12th cultural festival “Kunstflecken”. For the artists materials, tools and kilns are available. Costs for materials, accommodation, meals, and a travel subsidy will be provided by the organizers. This symposium and the resulting art objects will be documented, an exhibition at the Gallery of the Stadttöpferei Neumünster and in the Landesmuseum in Schleswig-Holstein in Gottorf will be shown then. Each participant then donate one of their resulting works to the Stadttöpferei Neumünster.
The application (in german or english) includes an informal letter with all contact information (name, address, email), the idea sketch (one page text, including graphical sketches), a CV to present the artistic qualities and commitment, seven color images of recent works (max. 20 x 30 cm, color prints, no slides) with the title, year of creation, the original dimensions, the materials used.
The completed application must be sent via mail to Stadttöpferei Neumünster | Galerie im Fürsthof, Fürsthof 8, 24534 Neumünster, Germany and arrive until 31 May 2010. Later incoming or incomplete documents can not be considered in the selection and have the exclusion from the competition result. The jury’s decision – by Prof. Dr. Kerstin Abraham (Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel), Dr. Ulrich Schneider (Schleswig-Holstein’s state museum "Schloß Gottorf"), Sünne Höhn (Cultural Office of the City of Neumünster) und Danijela Pivašević-Tenner (Stipendiary of the Stadttöpferei) – will be published in mid-June 2010.
