GET FIRED UP: A Tom Coleman and Paul Geil Kiln Firing Workshop

The Fine Line, in St.Charles, Illinois, is hosting a Geil Kilns 3-day workshop covering Coleman glazes, kiln firing and porcelain throwing techniques demonstrations. Topics will include glaze applications, spraying techniques, firing in a Geil Downdraft Kiln and use of kiln controllers as well as throwing demonstrations by Tom Coleman.

Day one includes: Discussion of glaze types (copper reds, celedons, and shinos), glaze application techniques and spray booth, basic combustion and firing theory and the kiln will be loaded. Day two includes: Firing/kiln theory, kiln operation and controllers, demonstration of techniques for throwing porcelain. Day three includes: Unloading the kiln, discussion and critique of glaze results.
