NCECA and The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will host the Regional Exhibition:
2011 “Uncommon Ground: Impact and Influence” from September 15 – November 13, 2011.
NCECA and the Arvada Center are organizing a blended invitational and competitive ceramic exhibition for artists from the geographic region west of the Mississippi River. This format brings established reputations and emerging talent to bear on the selected theme and adds vitality and fresh perspectives to an ongoing dialogue. The exhibition is curated and organized by NCECA Exhibitions Director, Linda Ganstrom, the Arvada Center’s Ceramics Program Coordinator, Bebe Alexander, and the Arvada Center’s Gallery/Museum Exhibition Designer, Collin Parson.
"Uncommon Ground: Impact and Influence" will showcase the contributions of ceramic innovators, who through their authenticity and originality blazed frontiers and powerfully impacted the ceramics field. Work by established artists will be displayed alongside artists whose promising new work continues to push the boundaries of ceramic art impacting the future of our field.
This exhibition is open to any artist from the geographic region west of the Mississippi River whose works incorporate primarily ceramic materials and processes. NCECA Members pay a discounted submission fee.
All works must be primarily ceramic. Mixed media works will be accepted only if ceramic materials are the primary media. Video featuring clay or ceramics will be juried if a link is provided in the description field of the entry or a hard copy DVD is sent to the NCECA Office.
