The Ceramic Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is pleased to host the inaugural Iowa Clay Conference. In conjunction with the conference – this show – “River to River” will highlight the richness and diversity of ceramic art within Iowa and its contiguous states. Participation is open to all artists 18 years of age or older living in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Work submitted must be original, must use clay as the primary material, and must have been completed within the last 2 years
JURORS
Bunny McBride received an M.F.A. from Alfred University. He is professor emeritus at the University of Iowa where he taught for 40 years. He has received a National Endowment for the Arts grant from the Archie Bray Foundation. McBride’s ceramic work has been honored around the world and is held in numerous public and private collections.
JoAnn Schnabel has taught ceramics at The University of Northern Iowa for 21 years. JoAnn has also served on the Boards of Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts and NCECA and in an advisory capacity for several other institutions including The Ceramics Center. Her ceramic sculpture has been shown at museums and galleries throughout the United States.
Sanjay Jani is the owner and founder of AKAR Design, one of the most prominent ceramics and design galleries in the country. He is a trained architect and collector of art and design works. Sanjay has curated popular gallery exhibitions at AKAR such as the “30×5” and the “Yunomi Invitational.” He represents some of the best known ceramists known nationally and internationally.
